Josh Gott SS 2012 Collection

Josh Gott è uno dei designer di moda australiani più interessanti degli ultimi tempi. Dopo il diploma in Media Art & Production alla University of Technology di Sydney nel 1999 e diversi premi, come quello per miglior giovane designer secondo Tyffany & Co, Josh inizia ad attirare l’attenzione dei media. Caratteristica del suo fare moda è la capacità di immaginare il futuro, di suggerire un’idea di avanguardia, senza sconfinare nel grottesco. Infatti la sua collezione estiva non fa eccezione: la silhouette si concentra sulla parte superiore del corpo, le spalle delle giacche sono oversized, sagomate, quasi robotiche. Gli abiti, anche essi strutturati, sono una specie di sportswear di lusso, in cui l’arancione si mischia con il blue elettrico, il giallo con il bordeaux, il bianco con l’oro, il color blocking con le fantasie floreali, rose, gigli ed orchidee. Quello di Goot è un continuo gioco di mix & match fra soluzioni diverse: tubini a vita alta, corpetti rigidi con la linea dei fianchi generosa, bombers con abitini scultorei, la simmetria delle proporzioni con l’asimmetria delle lunghezze. Il neoprene è il tessuto principe di questa collezione, futuristica e barocca. Josh Goot è decisamente uno designer da tenere d’occhio perché ci indica possibili territori da esplorare e ci veste, con gusto, per in maniera inusuale.

Josh Gott is one of the most interesting Australian fashion designers of the last years. After the Media Art & Production degree at University of Technology di Sydney in 1999 and several awards, like the Tiffany & Co Young Designer of the Year award, Josh starts to catch the media’s attention. Characteristic of his way to do fashion is the ability to imagine the future, to suggest an idea of avant-garde, without overlapping with grotesque. His summer collection isn’t an exception. The silhouette is focused on the superior part of body, jacket’ shoulders are oversized, shaped, almost robotic. The dresses, shaped them too, are a kind of luxurious sportswear, wherein orange mingles with electric blue, yellow with Bordeaux, white with gold, colour blocking with floral prints, roses, lilies, orchids. The Goot’s one is a game of mix & match between different solutions: high – waisted, rigid corset with a generous hips’ line, bombers with sculptural dresses, symmetry of the proportions with asymmetry length. Neoprene is the predominant material of this futuristic and baroque collection. Josh Goot is, definitely, a designer to keep watch, because he shows us possible areas to explore and dresses us, with good taste, for the occasion.
