The collaboration that combines functionality and urban style in a unique collection of bags and backpacks
July 20th, 2023
Carhartt WIP and Japanese bag brand RAMIDUS have joined forces for a collaboration that fuses elements of music and skateboarding, resulting in a series of functional products perfect for everyday use. The RAMIDUS brand, known for its 20 years of experience in producing high-quality bags and luggage, has decided to take on a new challenge in the industry after previously being known as Head Porter. Launching in 2019 in Harajuku, Tokyo, RAMIDUS set out to set a "new standard" through innovation and creativity.
The collection created in collaboration with Carhartt WIP includes nine products, all made from the brand's signature rugged, water-repellent Duck Canvas. This selection of bags and backpacks draws on the subcultural roots of both brands, capturing the spirit of the music and skateboard universe. Prominent in the collection are the spacious multi-pocket bags, ideal for those who need ample space for their belongings, the comfortable hip bags, perfect for a casual and practical look, and the messenger bags, suitable for those who are always on the move. Among the most interesting items in the line is the DJ Bag, designed to hold up to 40 12-inch vinyls, a real treat for DJs and analog music lovers.
Another distinctive element of the collaboration is the reinterpretation of Carhartt WIP's famous Kickflip Bag, a staple of their collections, made even more unique with closures and hooks that allow a skateboard to be attached, a tribute to skateboarding culture. Each item has been carefully designed down to the smallest detail, equipped with a nylon lining to ensure comfort and practicality. The choice of a refined palette of muted colors, including white and Carhartt WIP's iconic Hamilton Brown, lends a touch of timeless elegance to the designs on offer. In addition, each product is embellished with a personalized Carhartt WIP x RAMIDUS woven label, a symbol of the union between the two brands. The evocative images of this collaboration were captured in Tokyo by photographer Kento Mori and portray some icons of the Japanese scene: DJ Muro, skater Yuma Takei, and model Mamina Kagami, thus lending a touch of authenticity and sophistication to this extraordinary union between fashion, music, and skateboarding.
