The British brand's classics broken down and reassembled

Dr. Martens and MM6 Maison Margiela have joined forces for a collaboration that marks a meeting between two distinct worlds: the iconic British footwear and accessories brand and the avant-garde aesthetic of MM6 Maison Margiela. The result is a series of innovative creations that overturn expectations of classic designs, creating new hybrid forms that combine the heritage of both brands. The collection, first presented during the FW24 MM6 runway show, reimagines four of Dr. Martens' most emblematic models: the 1460 boot, the 1490 extra-high boot, the 1461 shoe, and the Penton moccasin. Each piece is a reinterpretation that blends classic lines with contemporary touches, giving life to unconventional silhouettes. The mix of materials and fusion of styles presents a bold and modern vision while still remaining faithful to the iconic Dr. Martens aesthetic.
A prime example of this fusion is the model that combines the original 1460 8-eye boot with the 1461 3-eye shoe. The red-dark Vintage Smooth leather is paired with soft black Virginia leather, creating a visually and tactilely surprising contrast. The steel toe cap adds a touch of durability, making each step more assertive. Another standout piece from the collection is the 1490 10-eye boot, which has been reworked into a version that incorporates elements of the 1461 shoe, with a jutting toe to emphasize the curvature of the silhouette and made from Virginia and Vintage Smooth leathers. Finally, the 1461 shoe has been revisited with elements of the Penton moccasin, creating a combination of elegance and practicality. The result is a shoe made of black Vintage Smooth leather, with dark red details that accentuate its structure. Each footwear piece in the collection features the AirWair heel loop, a signature of Dr. Martens, enriched with the raised MM6 numeric logo. The iconic yellow stitching, which has always been a hallmark of the British brand, completes the design, firmly linking the past to the future.
