The National Bureau of Buddhism wants to sue Supreme

According to The Fashion Law, the National Bureau of Buddhism would be ready to sue Supreme for the unauthorized use of an image of the monk Luang Phor Koon and the Sak Yant, a tattoo considered sacred and reserved for Buddhist monks. Both images are clearly visible on the Blessings Ripstop Shirt, one of the items present in the lookbook of the SS21 collection of the brand.

The decision would come directly from the independent government agency linked to the local government and Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha, who would be already working to ask the New York brand to remove the images in question. According to the National Bureau of Buddhism, in addition to their sacred value, both images are subject to copyright which prohibits any unauthorized use.

Tawatchai Sanprasit, manager of the Wat Ban Rai temple, said he's ready to discuss the matter with Supreme to understand what the brand's intentions are. If that can't change their mind, Sanprasit and the National Bureau of Buddhism would consider legal action.
