The new No Vacancy Inn x Stüssy collection is dropping today
Modelled in the lookbook by A$AP Nast
September 25th, 2020
Over the last few seasons, Stüssy has made collaborations one of the most interesting aspects of its collections, managing from time to time to design innovative and interesting capsules, always in line with its own DNA. The one unveiled yesterday is perhaps the further step in defining the new Stussy aesthetic, a natural evolution towards a more sophisticated, adult and formal imagery.
It is therefore partly surprising that this collection is co-signed by No Vacancy Inn, a creative collective difficult to define in a few words. Founded by Tremaine Emory, aka Denim Tears, together with Acyde Odunlami, the collective is a perfect blend of different artistic disciplines, ranging from music, with DJ sets and radio programs, to fashion. Over the past five years, No Vacancy Inn has become a leading name in the American cultural, music and fashion scene, and while its closest collaborators include Virgil Abloh, A$AP Nast and brands like New Balance, the collective has managed to remain a niche name, focusing on the cultural impact of its creations rather than on hype and passing trends.
The new collaborative capsule, modelled in the lookbook by A$AP Nast, was designed with the intention of creating pieces for the modern wardrobe. Inspired by films such as Weekend at Bernies, the collection looks to the Eighties for the creation a suit with a double-breasted blue corduroy jacket, a tie-dye sweater, alongside sweatpants, crewnecks, a tee and a packable trench coat enriched by the No Vacancy Inn branding. The capsule perfectly combines the practicality and wearability of garments with a more retro vocation, especially in the colours and silhouettes chosen.
