The great return of the FILA DSTR97
A '90s classic is coming back with a street vibe
January 29th, 2019
FILA announces the release of the DSTR97, a silhouette created in 1997 that more than any other left a mark on the '90s aesthetic and on the contemporary streetwear scene.
The DSTR97 was one of the FILA's top silhouettes: it is a bold sneaker with very impactful lines, it's big, it's comfy and one of the first examples of the so-called daddy shoe trend or chunky sneakers, a trend that's still going strong. The Italian brand - founded in 1911, becoming a leader in the world of sportswear in the '70s - has brought back to to light the DSTR97 in a new street perspective inspired by its racing heritage in the campaign.
2019 sees the comeback of the DSTR97, characterized by a patent leather upper with mesh details, a thick sole, FILA logo on the heel and on lateral sides of the shoe, as well as a FILA binding across the upper. The sneaker is available in two different colorways, White/FILA navy, and White/gray violet. Along with the sneakers, FILA designed a capsule of apparel, consisting of a T-shirt, a cap and a waist bag.
The sneakers will be available from January 31 in select retailers like SlamJam and Naked for €120.
The same day, Thursday, January 31, FILA will celebrate the release of the DSTR97 with a can't-miss event at SuperStudio Più in via Tortona, Milan, featuring art performances, cars, and gaming, as well as a live performance from Tauro Boys. Click here to register. See you there.
