Supreme pays homage to the American artist Mike Kelley
The FW18 collection is pure art
September 3rd, 2018
The ultimate streetwear brand is back with another collaborative collection.
This time Supreme New York pays tribute to the late American artist Mike Kelley. The eclectic contemporary artist, one of the most influential of his generation, well-known for his drawings, performances, paitings, sonic presentations and videos, incorporating found and second-hand items, interrogated American pop culture and the rituals of youth. Kelley, born in Detroit, was very familiar with the 90s music scene, not only as a member of the band Destroy All Monsters, but also as a close collaborator of the Sonic Youth. Died in 2012 at age 57, Kelley and his art represent a reference point in the American cultural landscape to this day.
For its FW18 collection Supreme has worked on Kelley's iconic artworks, like More Love Hours Than Can Ever Be Repaid, The Wages of Sin, Ahh…Youth! and the Reconstructed History series, as a recurring pattern on jackets, shirts, sweatshirts, hoodies, T-shirts and eight different skateboard decks.
