March 16th, 2017
The twelfth edition of Hunger Magazine, the semiannual review of Rankin, was launched today. The theme of this issue? Stand For Something, an issue for all who have eyes open, ask questions and stimulate debate.
Among the cover star of Hunger Magazine 12, there is also the grime artist Stormzy that, using the main theme Stand For Something, tells of how important it is to challenge the dominant black narratives.
"There's gonna be way more successful young black people coming through", says Stromzy. "So I'm just here saying, ‘Look you better get ready because there’s bare of us, hundreds of us, coming and we look like this and we dress like this and we talk like this and we’re here".
Besides Stormzy, this Hunger Magazine edition presents a reportage on the Women March in Washington, London and Los Angeles with commentary from the leaders of women's equality party Sophie Walker, an interview with legendary fashion designer Katharine Hamnett on the importance of the protests, Jesse Williams and his new movement for civil rights presented during the BET Awards, Antony Micallef and Jonathan Horowitz discuss border ideas and identity with the French-Moroccan artist Bouchra Khalili, and much more.
Well, what are you waiting for? The full interview and the Stormzy shots are in the 12th Hunger Magazine edition that will be released today, March 16, here.
