An original tribute to great music icons

It is said that calligraphy can reveal a person's character. Maybe it was born to explore the nature and the inner world of their musical myths the idea of designers Nicolas Damiens and Julien Sens to convert the calligraphy of Kurt Cobain, David Bowie, John Lennon, Serge Gainsbourg and Leonard Cohen into downloadable digital fonts.
The two did their best to capture the nuances of each character's writing, using samples of personal notes, letters, postcards, lists and even the suicide letter from the Nirvana leader.
So by observing their consonants and vowels, we find that Cobain's calligraphy is often subtle and scratchy while being shamelessly inhomogeneous with bold words, deletions and corrections. The result is "a typographic character that is at the same time honest, tortured and poetic". On the other hand, the writing of Joh Lennon and David Bowie is in stark contrast: the former is more structured and coherent, while the latter has a cleaner graphic approach.
