Last night Paris Fashion Week's spotlights were all on Rihanna's latest Fenty x Puma collection. The girl demonstrated once again she can be a great creative director, showing a collection inspired by the Queen of all bad gals, Marie Antoinette.

In a very-short interview released to Vogue.com just before the show, streamed on Tidal, the singer said: “Spring should feel like something fresh, even though I’m not going to stop wearing black all together. But I didn’t want it to be super-bubbly, so I kept it a bit street”.

In fact, her  SS17 collection was very different from Fenty x Puma's gothic debut: the mood of the brand has always the same strong sporty attitude and all the power of streetwear, but this season the singer got her inspiration from Seventeenth-century Paris, including bustiers, laces, jacquard fabrics, ranges and long strings of pearls, like in the court of Sun King. Pastel colours dye tracksuits, baseball caps and deconstructed synthetic jackets, which made the collection very trendy. But the real news were the menswear looks, a natural choice for the pop star who often wears men's clothes.

So, the decision to show in Paris was not casual, as Rihanna explained: “I chose Paris because I wanted people to feel the entire tone of the new collection”. And we think that she did it successfully. If Marie Antoinette was alive, she would wear Fenty x Puma for sure.
