Peter Copping is the new artistic director of Lanvin

Lanvin, the oldest couture house in France, announced today the appointment of Peter Copping as Artistic Director. Founded in 1889 by Jeanne Lanvin and headquartered in Paris, the maison will welcome Copping starting next September. Peter Copping, a British national and graduate of Central Saint Martins and the Royal College of Art in London, brings extensive experience to Lanvin. He began at Sonia Rykiel before spending over a decade at Louis Vuitton under the guidance of Marc Jacobs, where he served as head of womenswear. He then took on the role of Creative Director at Nina Ricci in Paris, followed by a position at Oscar de la Renta in New York. There, he was designated as de la Renta's successor, a significant recognition given that Mr. de la Renta had worked as a designer for Lanvin under Antonio Castillo. Most recently, Copping was Head of Couture at Balenciaga, where he directed the reintroduction of the couture collection and subsequently served as Head of VIP and Special Projects. This diverse background at prestigious fashion houses has equipped Copping with a unique perspective and technical expertise, making him an excellent choice for Lanvin.

Copping’s appointment comes at a crucial time for Lanvin, as the brand is undergoing a targeted transformation to redefine its position in contemporary culture.
