Phaidon has announced the publication of the first monograph on celebrated American designer Thom Browne. Marking the 20th anniversary of his brand, which also debuted at Paris Haute Couture this year, the volume offers a visual journey through Browne's revolutionary creations, capturing the essence of his creative process. Featuring rare, never-before-seen photographs and contributions from some of the fashion industry's leading figures, the book reveals the extraordinary world of Thom Browne and his iconic design philosophy. Organized in chronological order, the pages of the celebratory book come to life with visionary photographs by renowned British photographer Johnny Dufort. Renowned curator Andrew Bolton, from the Costume Institute of the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York, offers his expertise with an engaging narrative that traces the evolution of the Browne brand over the years.
Designed by Amsterdam-based graphic designer Irma Boom, the book itself is a small work of art. With more than 200 images from the runway shows, the monograph spans more than 400 pages, showcasing both men's and women's collections, and includes more than 40 gatefolds and translucent pages that emphasize the brand's four-stripe branding for which Browne himself went to court and won against adidas. This unique layout highlights every intricate detail of Browne's designs, inviting readers into the designer's artistic, innovative world. With a touch of intimacy and mystery, each page is created to be a curated album that gives us a way to observe the workings of Browne's mind.
