The anarchy of Gerrit Jacob's new SS24 collection
Titled "The Traitor" and inspired by Gregg Araki's aesthetic

For his new SS24 collection, titled The Traitor, German designer Gerrit Jacob explored the notion of class struggle, commercialism, and the social codes present in our everyday clothing. The collection presents an exaggerated version of the youthfulness and graphic vibrancy of his own collections precisely to expose their shadows and implications. The idea is to take the maximalist graphics at the base of the brand's DNA to a new and more mature level, starting with the chromatic exuberance of the graphics and mixing it with a different degree of realism and disillusioned objectivity that harkens back to the uniforms of the kitsch world of casinos but also to the pop wardrobe of the damned teenagers from Gregg Araki's cult film Doom Generation.
In the newly unveiled range of garments, Jacob's iconoclastic motifs are applied to new fabrics such as denim, jersey, and white leather, increasing the grit and realism of the experimental luxury craftsmanship promoted by the designer by applying it to his distinctive silhouettes. These very silhouettes are inspired by sportswear, which the designer called the «universal language of the working class» but also to the adolescent existentialism of the 1990s.
