For Converse, collaboration is a fundamental and organic concept for the storytelling and success of the brand, a unique and indispensable way to bring different worlds together. With more than a century of history behind it, a past that ranges from basketball to the most important moments of streetwear, Converse has made collaborations a fundamental value aimed at breaking rules and facilitating the encounter between creative geniuses.
For the upcoming SS21 season, Converse remains true to its DNA and prepares for an unprecedented series of collaborations. "Our collaborators are always helping us to be more playful and a little less serious," explained Brandis Russell VP of footwear. The brand's next projects will see the participation of Kim Jones, Telfar Clemens, Comme des Garçons PLAY, Off-White™ and Tyler, the Creator. But not only. Converse will also work alongside Concepts, Bandulu, Chinatown Market, as well as with athletes such as Alexis Sablone, Natasha Cloud and Draymond Green. A varied and top-notch roster of names that testifies to Converse's different inclinations and ambitions, ranging from high fashion to the purest streetwear, without forgetting its origins in sport.
The proposal for the SS21 season intends to tell the evolution of the classic All Star through the stories of six emerging artists, including basketball, skate, music and fashion, a selection of names that have been able to break the mould in terms of inclusiveness, dynamism and sustainability. Among the faces of Converse we find Evan Mock, skater, surfer and one of the most popular models of the moment; Nicole McLaughlin, DIY artist who combines sneaker culture and upcycling in her works. And again, the photographer Quil Lemons, the stylist Gabriella Karefa-Johnson; Kaue Cossa, Brazilian skater; and finally the musician TheHxliday.
Among the sneakers unveiled for next season, we find a perfect balance between the cult and most iconic Converse models, such as the Chuck 70 and the Run Star Hike, which has soon become a staple of the brand, alongside revisited and innovative models, such as the Chuck Taylor All Star Move, the Pro Leather, Converse Renew or Chuck Taylor All Star CX.
