UPDATE 27.11.20: just over a month ago news broke of a more structured partnership between ASICS and Kiko Kostadinov, aimed at the creation and above all at the reiteration of some of the most iconic silhouettes of the sneaker brand. After many rumours, the first shoe the two worked on was unveiled: the GEL-KAYANO™ 14.
ASICS reimagines the GEL-KAYANO™14 model as a lifestyle shoe, which was first released in 2008 as a running shoe. This model represents a special moment within the brand's history as it's the first silhouette in the series to be designed by someone other than its creator Toshikazu Kayano. The re-introduced model sports the same nostalgic, 2000’s aesthetic. The midsole tooling with GEL™ technology cushioning is mirrored to the re-imagined model, keeping the original model’s performance capabilities for the wearers. At the same time, material and fit improvements are made on the upper, while retaining its layered synthetic leather and mesh construction.
The new ASICS UB1-S GEL- KAYANO 14 releases on November 27th on ASICS' website at a retail price of 150€.

8.10.20: Two years after the release of the first joint GEL-BURZ 1, ASICS and Kiko Kostadinov have announced that they have sealed a new and lasting partnership that will bring the Bulgarian designer and the Menswear and Womenswear teams led by Laura and Deanna Fanning in a new direction, far from the previous ones in an almost symbiotic relationship.
The new partnership will see Kostadinov working together with ASICS designers to create new collections part of the ASICS SportStyle. The first part of this new collaboration will arrive in November with the release of the new GEL-KAYANO. During their previous collaboration, ASICS and Kiko Kostadinov collaborated on ten new models, contributing to the creation of an unprecedented visual identity and a unique language.
Last month we had the opportunity to see another release expected in the coming months, that of GEL-Kiril 2 at the moment still without a release date.
