The lookbook of Nicomede SS21 collection
In "Gentleman of the Universe" the British-Filipino designer explores modern tailoring inspired by a childhood memory

Following the end of his eponymous brand in 2015, Nicomede Talavera made his debut last year with a new project called just Nicomede.
No seasonal proposals, but "Episodes", collections that explore a new idea of tailoring, presented through lookbook made together with a team of collaborators including photographer Tom Sloan and Harry Lambert, the stylist of Harry Styles. For Episode 3, entitled Gentlemen of the Universe, the English designer adds collage artist Patrick Waugh to the list of creatives, who, as he did for MiuMiu's FW20 campaign, brings his cut-up touch to the shots.
In the new collection, Talavera recalls a childhood memory, when, as a child, he used to watch his father rebuild and assemble beautiful marble lamp holders. This image of marble, with its particular streaks and shiny finish, becomes the inspiration for the graphics that stand out on kimono jackets; oversized cargo pants in shiny nylon; hoodies; long corner collar shirts and tuxedo jackets. Other features of these new Nicomede pieces are fluid, oversized proportions and a palette made of black, disrupted by touches of white, brown, red, Klein blue and purple.
