The return of the New Balance 992 "Made in USA"
One of the cult models of the brand's lifestyle category
April 27th, 2020
Ahead of the Spring 2020 collection, New Balance has introduced a re-issue of one of its cult models, the New Balance 992 "Made in USA". Originally introduced in 2006, the original 992 model was made to mark the brand's 100th anniversary and has since occupied a prominent position in New Balance's 99X series, which began in 1982 with the first version of the New Balance 990. This sneaker was the icon of the normcore aesthetic thanks to the fact that it was Steve Jobs' favorite shoe. The Made in USA and Made in England categories of New Balance represent the close link of the brand to western production chains.
The 992 "Made in USA" will not only return in the classic gray colorway, but in five different colors. The sneaker top is made of pigskin suede with breathable mesh inserts and Synth/Nubuck reinforcements. The intersla cell will instead be made of ABZORB SBS, the first non-cellular elastomero to be used as a cushioning insert in a sneaker.
The re-issue of the shoe will also be accompanied by a sportswear capsule with some of New Balance's best-selling items: the iconic sweatshirt with the big NB logo on the front, a trousers both with a french terry interior and a black t-shirt with screen-printed graphics. All garments in the capsule are in total black.
The New Balance 992 "Made in USA" and the total look of clothing will be available online, at New Balance stores and some selected retailers starting in May 2020.
