Stone Island is a global excellence in color research and experimentation, as well as materials. With over 60,000 different dye types developed over the years, the new 574 Legacy comes in two distinct color variations. The shades of green, mustard yellow, and gray echo the garments from Stone Island's 1988 archive, including the polyester microfiber outerwear from the FW 1988/1989 season, as well as the dark gray jacquard fabric inner shell, bordered by mustard yellow stripes. The new iterations draw from Stone Island's vast material archive, exploring collections from 1987 to 1989, in an unexpected multi-texture approach to the historic silhouette, updated with a contemporary twist.
Nubuck overlays the ripstop upper inspired by a shell jacket from the FW 1988/1989 archive, entirely made of a single layer of thermowelded PVC. The texture of the New Balance logo reproduces the rubber patch placed on the elbow of a Stone Island model in raw canvas from the SS 1988 season. The design is completed with a nylon tongue and sponge collar, reminiscent of the short iridescent nylon ripstop parka from the FW 1988/1989 season, the Stone Island Compass logo patch on the tongue, inspired by an archive badge with green embroidery, and finally by reflective tabs on the heel, an EVA foam midsole with Encap technology, and a rubber outsole, in a perfect fusion of functional inspiration, innovation, and everyday wearability.
