Vestiaire Collective suggests costumes ideas for a sustainable and cool Halloween
With a selection of second hand items perfect for the spookiest night of the year
October 31st, 2019
According to various researches, the 31st of October is one of the most wasteful times of the year. There is no better time than Halloween to start being aware of how our shopping habits impact the climate crisis. So why not celebrating with a green attitude? You just need to buy a second-hand item and mix it with what you have in your wardrobe and add an eye-catching make-up. Vestiaire Collective suggests some items with a "spooky" mood: from Charlotte Olympia's spider shoes to Prada's Frankenstein shirt, from Victoria Beckham's mini dress with black cats to Amiri's skeleton perfecto.
In order to increase the brand awareness of the company, yesterday Vestiaire Collective opened its first physical store at Selfridges: a 40-square-meter space on the third floor in Oxford Street, London. Inside, customers will find a selection of 200 items, including ten rare vintage pieces from brands such as Versace, Paco Rabanne and Maison Margiela, all marked with the "pre-loved" label. The new adventure of the marketplace, as CEO Maximilian Bittner at Bof, stressed, "is a choice of marketing rather than business". The company's goal, which remains "tech-first", is to "educate" consumers on second-hand in a physical environment.
