Garage Italia unveils Panderis, the new electric 4x4 Fiat Panda
The iconic Fiat model returns with a tailored restyling
September 24th, 2019
Following the success of the Fiat 500 Jolly Icon, Garage Italia reinterprets another iconic car from the past: the Fiat Panda 4x4. Lapo Elkann's atelier decided to mix vintage and present, combining the original design of the first city car with off-road features by Giorgetto Giugiaro with new technologies. Carlo Borromeo, Director of Centro Stile Garage Italia, is enthusiastic about the project:
"The Panda beats in the hearts of all true car enthusiasts. It has fascinated entire generations thanks to its sincere and frank soul, its exceptional design and the pragmatic solutions that characterize it. For this second edition of the Icon-e initiative, we wanted to pay homage to the multifaceted character of this car by creating 5 variants together with 5 exceptional partners, creating unique cars, each in its own way".
The 5 Icon-e all-wheel-drive Panda cars will be unveiled one by one during the Autumn/Winter 2020 season and will feature as many restylings made with special partners: PANDERIS with Vitale Barberis Canonico, PANDORO with fashion designer Marta Ferri, PAND'ART with Arthur Kar de L'Art de L'Automobile, PANDINA JONES with Car&Vintage and 00PANDA in secret agent style. The first model to be presented, PANDERIS, was born from the synergy with the historic Biella wool mill Vitale Barberis Canonico. Thanks to the collaboration with Fiat, the car acquires a unique sartorial touch: seats, door panels and the iconic dashboard are lined with a four-piece twisted canvas, while the imperial car is covered with Perennial fabric, an evocative material that recalls a starry sky.
The entire car is painted in Barberis Brown with the beauty line in Blu Vitale, while the rims are in Canonico Gold. An electric power unit developed in collaboration with the Newtron Group replaces the old thermal engine and guarantees a top speed of 115 km/h for a range of about 100 km. The PANDERIS is recharged through a Type 2 socket, installed under the fuel door. Depending on the mode, the batteries can be fully recharged in between 3 and 8 hours.
