The Sneaker Hype Zoo by Heygraphic
31 illustrations that mix exotic animals with some of the most famous sneaker models
December 17th, 2018
The animals' forms and colors are often a source of inspiration for the sneaker designers. For example, the sole of the Nike Air Max Plus, well known as Tn, or even better as "shark", would actually be inspired by the whale tail. The animal world influences the designers, and seemingly also the artists.
Sneaker Zoo is the 31 drawings series created by Oscar Canda, the Italian graphic designer behind the Heygraphic creative project. The idea born from the desire to mix two of his main passions: animals and sneakers. The design of the Nike, adidas, Converse and Vans models seem to correspond perfectly with the 31 varieties of animals, exotic as the tiger or the elephant, aquatic like carp and octopus but also of air like owl and butterfly. The sneaker wall is vast too, the models used are the most popular, Nike Air Jordan I Off-White but also Yeezy Boost 700 Wave Runner and Vans Old Skool. The shoes become the skin, the beak or the claws of the mythological creatures, half animals and half sneaker. A real hype zoo.
Hey -tag with which Oscar signs his artworks- to create Sneaker Zoo first realize a pen sketch and a scan only at a large stage. The style is to that of the tattoo, in which the most meticulous details dominate, necessary to make both animals and sneakers as near as possible to reality, despite the use of no colors but only lines.
Heygraphic's works have been noticed by big brands like adidas, RedBull, Campari and Nike with whom he has collaborated in the past with two important projects, that you can see on Hey's Behance profile.
Oscar's aim is to continue to attract the attention of the brands to his work, but also to organize an exhibition, to show all the 31 "Sneaker Zoo" drawings.
