The new Converse Chuck Taylors designed by Feng Chen Wang
Presented during the Shanghai Fashion Week
October 17th, 2018
A few days ago began the Shanghai Fashion Week and one of the shows that drew our attention more than any other was the one of Feng Chen Wang (here we explained why she's a designer to keep an eye on).
During this Fashion Week, Wang presented her SS19 collection, which includes a new collaboration with Converse. The designer's aesthetic is made of contrasts, asymmetries, mix of different styles, as she already proved in her previous collection, "My Half", in which the iconic sneaker of the American brand had been reworked in a new version with double upper, double lacing and double line on the tip of the shoe.
This season the collaboration between Wang and Converse continues. The Converse Chuck Taylor All Star designed by Wang is done in five different colorways, that go from the classic white and black, to military green, light blue and pink.
The low-top Chunks are reworked into a sandal form, the back of the shoe in fact is open, and a functional strap was added on to the traditional lacing system, for even more comfort. On the other hand, the high-top model presents different canvas panels, another lacing system on the heel and a higher sole. The idea of fracture is visible in both sneakers in the sole, which seems to be broken, almost broken in half, and the contrast between the different panels contributes to this feeling of facture.
