The "anti-aesthetic" revolution of an iconic brand
June 15th, 2018
Midnight Studios, the streetwear brand founded by Shane Gonzales in 2014 and inspired by the 70s punk era, revolutionizes two iconic Converse models: Chuck Taylor All Star 70 and One Star.
"Converse is an essential sneaker to us, and to the many people who inspire us." - the designer explains - "At Midnight Studios, we draw our inspiration from popular culture and music history and when we think of a timeless shoe that fits that description, (Converse) makes perfect sense."
The "anti-aesthetic" approach to fashion by Gonzales turns the upper of the shoes upside down, putting the inside on the outside, creating two ultra-minimal sneakers in unbleached natural greige canvas.
Both are made in a cream white colorway with black details and are characterized by elements such as PAXAR label and duty tags, traditionally present in a shoe, positioned on the outside and vice versa, as for the patch that is turned inside. Industrial details, printed laces with double branding and full-length rubber sole unit complete the look.
