Halima Aden is new Kanye West's muse
The model who walked wearing a hijab for Yeezy Season 5
February 16th, 2017
The YEEZY' s new collection has been revealed the day before yesterday during the New York Fashion Week. The fashion show was more "traditional" than other performances Kanye West created in the past, but it included all the iconic elements of the brand. One of the most interesting things about YEEZY Season 5 is the model Halima Aden, the new Kanye West's muse who walked wearing a hijab. Her first mediatic appearance dates back to Minnesota's Miss USA competition, where she participated wearing a burkini.
"I didn’t really have modeling in mind. I wanted to spread a positive message about beauty and diversity, and to show other young Muslim women that there is room for them" the 19-years-old model explained about it.
Ivan Bart, the IMG Model President of which Halima is part, said: "I found that she was just so brave to stick to what she really believed in and yet go after the American dream of being in a beauty contest. By representing Halima, I would hope that the next 10-year-old girl wearing her hajib right now will feel included in the experience of fashion, and know that she could do that too. We need to reflect in fashion who we are, as a human race". Also Carine Roitfeld - who maybe had an important role in Halima's casting for the show - spent some very good words for the model, saying that "Halima is breaking boundaries of beauty and perception by being herself. I find this incredibly inspiring, and I know she will be an icon".
Keep your eyes on her because she could be the Next Big Thing in model industry.
