Dismaland is moving to France
In the refugee camp of Calais
September 28th, 2015
At 10 pm tonight Dismaland, the open air exhibition ideated by Banksy which mocks the traditional funfairs situated in Weston-super-Mare in Somerset, England, will close its doors.
If you’re sad because you didn’t have the opportunity to visit it, don’t panic: the show is only moving to Calais, the port city situated in the north east of France. All the installations of the most disturbing amusement park ever existed are about to live a new life inside the camp for refugees of the French town: “Coming soon… Dismaland Calais. All the timber and fixtures from Dismaland are being sent to the ‘jungle’ refugee camp near Calais to build shelters. No online tickets will be available” is written on the park’s website.
According to this declaration, the new Dismaland won’t be accessible to the public like the previous one, but it will only serve as a shelter for homeless people.
Act of generosity of artist’s provocation? We’ll find out in three weeks, when the transfer will be completed.
