Space Maiocchi reopens with a video-installation by Clemens von Wedemeyer
A new exhibition, a pop-up shop and an art residence from June 4 to 11
June 3rd, 2020
After the long break imposed by the pandemic, Spazio Maiocchi returns to offer a home to the most interesting and experimental art of the contemporary scene. The space will reopen throughout the week from June 4 to 11, from 11 a.m. to 6:30 p.m., coinciding with the launch of Afterimage, a new online platform dedicated to moving images with strong visual impact that will be inaugurated by Transformation Scenario by Clemens von Wedemeyer. In this 2018 video installation, the German artist/director explores the power structures in group dynamics, social behavior, surveillance and mass manipulation. To celebrate the birth of Afterimage, von Wedemeyer's video will be available in both the digital and physical spaces within the main gallery.
In addition, the Artifact exhibition space will have the dual function of main entrance and pop-up shop where you can buy the new SS20 issue of KALEIDOSCOPE and the limited edition merchandise of the magazine. Over the summer, KALEIDOSCOPE will enrich the contents of the platform by offering online, every two weeks, a selection of works.
During the week, the artistic residency of the Berlin creative collective Sucuk und Bratwurst will exhibit its artistic billboard in the courtyard of the Spazio and manage the Instagram account of Space Maiocchi, publishing its own 3D creations, digital animations and its mesmerizing sound design. This special project will be accompanied by an online workshop presented in collaboration with Valentino.
