Facebook will let you dress up your digital avatars
Mark Zuckerberg takes us into meta-fashion
February 1st, 2022
Waiting to discover the real applications of Meta in our everyday lives, Mark Zuckerberg seems to have taken a step towards the digitization of our lives. The founder of Facebook has announced with a post on his profile the arrival of a series of 3D avatars compatible with Facebook, Instagram, Messanger and Quest. The new avatars will have a range of realistic expressions, as well as new faces, skin tones, wheelchairs and hearing aids.
The most interesting aspect stressed by Zuckerberg is the advent of digital clothing, which in this first phase will give the possibility to dress your avatar with the jerseys of NFL teams that will play the next Super Bowl. This is obviously just a starting point towards the advent of metafashion, as already told by Zuck himself during the presentation of Meta a few months ago. Over the past few years, collabo like the one between Fortnite and Balenciaga or between Fortnite and Moncler have shown how many brands are already ready to break new ground in the way of creating and distibuire their products.
If everything goes according to plan, soon the NFT of sneakers or other items could be translated into items that can be used to dress your avatar on Meta, giving the possibility to brands to create real digital collections to be worn by our avatars during a meeting in the Metaverse.
