The new edition of Monopoly inspired by Italian aesthetics
An Italian-style road trip by ISSIMO
November 5th, 2021
ISSIMO, the digital branch of the Pellicano Hotels Group, and Monopoly have co-created an edition of the famous board game inspired by Italy and its aesthetics. Each box on the board is assigned a location dedicated to one of the twenty Italian regions that, all together, make up an imaginary journey through the peninsula that wants to celebrate its excellence not only landscape but also gastronomic and artistic. For example, the first box is the Lo Scoglio Restaurant in Amalfi while Rome is represented by the Trattoria Da Enzo al 29, a famous restaurant in Trastevere. The selection goes even more into detail: if the Argentario area is represented by the Hotel Il Pellicano, immortalized in the 60s by Slim Arons, while the last box is dedicated to the historic Loretta Caponi embroidery boutique in Florence.
The new Monopoly is presented with a ISSIMO branded box with a custom board and collectible map inside. Even the storytelling of the Unexpected and Probability cards follows the Italian theme of the game with quotes to important personalities and descriptions of cultural experiences and traditions; while the pieces are miniature Maserati cars.
In addition, the tour planned in the game can also result in a series of real-life tours that have been planned by Bellini Travels. All tours last between three and four days and cover Italian locations such as Rome, Tuscia and valle dei Calanchi, Emilia Romagna, Veneto with Palladio's villas and the Dolomites, Friuli Venezia Giulia and Trentino Alto Adige.
