Pop, electronic melancholy and the theme of migration are the three pillars of In the Middle, Bawrut's new album, out on November 12th for Ransom Note Records. The album is divided into eleven tracks, with the guest featuring LIBERATO and Cosmo, but also by French-Moroccan DJ and singer Glitter and the Spanish Chico Blanco. The line-up of the album is opened by the single Crossing for a Golden Jacket, whose video shot by Bana Studio was released today. The song encapsulates the most general themes of the album, those of migration seen as the physical and metaphorical displacement of an identity, which begins with the sounds of the sea and ends with the SOS signal in Morse code and with a series of loops that communicate the movement from a familiar world to a new and aseptic one.

The entire album, part of which was written and composed during the lockdown, is based on the metaphor of the Mediterranean that for migrants becomes the theater of tragedies, shipwrecks and abbadoni, in which you sail without seeing a point of arrival; but which also evokes the memories of a distant summer with its feasts, the memory of whose joy is now questioned by a deeper sense of instability. But the Mediterranean is also a metaphor for Bawrut's music, a meeting point of exchange between different languages and traditions. Just as the singer stated: «Through my music I try to combine languages and sounds to make a record that celebrates the union, the meeting and crossing of experiences». Precisely for this reason, 5% of the album's profits will be donated to Open Arms.

The single from Crossing for a Golden Jacket is available online on the website of Ransom Note Records, Spotify and YouTube.
