This November, Sony and Microsoft will duel for dominance over the gaming world. Both the Xbox Series X and the PlayStation 5 will in fact be released in the same month and both are highly anticipated – long-awaited, in fact, that the same pre-orders have gone sold out. To understand which console was the most searched for in each country, Rise at Seven crossed global search data and online market shares to map, country by country, which console was most in demand.
The PlayStation 5 wins hands down: Sony's console is at number one in 148 of the 161 countries analyzed, making the Xbox more popular in just 13 countries, but they also include China – certainly one of the most important markets in the world. The result also shows that Sony's PlayStation controls 84% of the global market, once again reaffirming its supremacy in the gaming world.
