The new Tesla Gigafactory in Berlin is Elon Musk's wildest dream Featuring a swimming pool and rave area, it also boasts a focus for the environment in its 300 hectares

Between a photo with Kanye West and space launch, Elon Musk took the time to raise the curtain on Berlin's new Tesla Gigafactory

Built on an area of 300 hectares in the municipality of Grünheide, the construction of the new European headquarters of Tesla started in 2020 with the aim of starting the production of the first Model Y at the beginning of next year. The green light to the works, however, came at the end of a long battle between Musk and the German environment ministry, which together with several environmentalists had made more than one accusation towards the choice of the area: in addition to having to reclaim an entire swampy area, the construction of the factory worth 4 billion euros also provided the deforestation of a forest, in addition to the appropriation of local aquifers and subsoil. This is why Tesla has committed itself to recreate a huge green area, also working on saving the water to be supplied within the company.

Genius and unruly, in addition to an entire roof of solar panels, Musk has promised a swimming pool on the roof and an indoor and outdoor rave space, effectively guaranteeing the more than twelve thousand new hires everything necessary to have fun outside office hours. At the moment, Tesla's presence in the Old Continent already boasts a branch in Tilburg and one in Prüm, for a total of 5500 employees in Europe only.
