From today Instagram's Directs are also on the desktop
Thanks to the new update, you can also access the DMs from your computer

If texting from your phone is a convenience, texting from your desktop is a blessing. Writing to your friends giving the impression of being diligent workers intent on typing on the keyboard is something saving. And if until now it was only possible to use WhatsApp, thanks to the new update of Instagram for desktop you will be able to access Instagram Direct Messages through your computer. The update has not yet been released globally and only a few accounts own it, but it's reasonable to think that in the coming weeks it will be extended to all accounts.
The new desktop DMs are essentially identical to those of the smartphone version. You can create groups, message from both the Direct screen and the user profile, like messages, share photos, and receive notifications. This novelty is part of Facebook's strategy to expand its messaging services, which, as Mark Zuckerberg told The New York Times last April, along with Stories are the fastest growing area of online communication. All these innovations are aimed at creating a convergence between the online messaging services of Facebook, Instagram and WhatsApp that in the future should become perfectly permeable, regardless of platform.
