Due to the evolution of the situation, that has turned into a global pandemic, Salone del Mobile, and Fuorisalone with it has officially been cancelled and postponed until 2021 and will take place from April 13 to 18. It was almost a forced decision, as also the biggest sporting event in the world, Tokyo Olympics, have been postponed to 2021.

The Coronavirus continues to shock Milan. Already in mid-February, when the Coronavirus emergency had not yet touched Italy, there was talk of an expected drop of 30-35 thousand visitors from Asian countries out of a total of 220-250 thousand. Now that eleven of the most fragile and elderly patients have died from the virus in northern Italy, the government has declared a state of emergency and quarantined a dozen small towns near Milan, the situation has plummeted. The cancellations have multiplied, not only of Asian buyers and exhibitors, seriously putting the world's leading Design event at risk.
Milan Design Week is just one of the last international events to suffer the damage of the virus.
