The most beautiful luxury boutiques in Mykonos
From Gucci to Off-White, the island is a shopping paradise
July 12th, 2019
Mykonos is not just sea, sun, beautiful landscapes, good food and parties. It is also a paradise for luxury shoppers. Major brands have space here, from Off-White to Gucci, from Dior to Oscar della Renta. Every year, the number of temporary summer stores multiplies, small shopping destinations that combine unique and precious creations with an architecture that often reflects the colors, history and mood of the island. Many of them are concentrated inside the Nammos village, a 12,000-square-meter open-air mall, which sprang up next to the famous Nammos restaurant and opened in July 2019 with an exclusive party that included Emrata, Gigi Hadid and Kate Moss among its guests. This small citadel of haute de gamme shopping located in Psarou beach, a location frequented by the international jet set, is the ideal mecca, if you have the right bank account, where to spend a day of vacation between the beauty of fashion and the botanical garden-park that surrounds the structure.
nss gives you a list of the 5 boutiques of Mykonos to see:
Burberry
This year even Burberry lands in Mykonos, at the Nammos Village. The design of the pop up store, which will be open until October, is inspired by the London flagship store of the fashion house located in 121 Regent Street and is characterized by a palette of white colors with hints of pistachio, furniture in different materials, including wood and mirrors, with glossy finishes. The coolest detail? The white canvas wall on the ground floor that visitors can illustrate and decorate leaving their creativity free. Inside the store, shoppers will find the items designed by Creative Director Riccardo Tisci as those part of Kingdom, the Burberry SS19 collection for men and women, and the new Monogram collection launched by Gigi Hadid.
Gucci
At Nammos Village, Gucci has opened a two-story pop-up store covering an area of 120 square meters. The atmosphere reflects both the vintage taste of creative director Alessandro Michele and the landscape of the Greek island. The result is a cabinet de curiosités where walls, floors and ceilings of sky blue recall the colors of the Aegean Sea. Crossing the threshold of this store means entering a place poised between past and present animated by beautiful bags and unique clothing that is almost impossible not to desire.
Off-White
Opened last year with an exclusive capsule collection inspired by the Mediterranean, the Off-White store located at 18 Kalogera Street reflects the colors, white, blue and green sea, the island, but also its history with Greek statues sprouting between stands and shelves. The environment is poised between the street minimalism of Virgil Abloh's creations and baroque elements such as the crystal chandelier, the statues or the carpet with the inscription "Feel the sand".
Louboutin
Nicknamed "Loubi Beach", this Christian Louboutin space is one of many Nammos Village temporary shops. The boutique blends together key elements of the shoe brand with references to the culture and party atmosphere that characterizes the island. Typical Louboutin red tones dominate everywhere, with neon lights and pink and white shelves completing the glam look. This flow of color gives the whole an almost decadent atmosphere that is broken only by the unique installation inspired by the island's beachgoers: legs dangling from the beach towels.
Louis Vuitton
LV opened its first boutique in Mykonos, in the heart of the island's Chora, in 2012. The structure reflected the typical architecture of the Cyclades: white walls and oak wood, clean style, rush cladding in the ceiling. This temporary store has survived a series of fiscal problems with the Greek authorities and moved to the Nammos village, making it one of the many luxury stores in the mall.
