A new book by the author of "Game of Thrones" on the Targaryen dynasty is coming soon

Those waiting for the release of the long awaited sixth volume of the fantasy series Game of Thrones, The Winds of Winter, will have to settle for a historical volume dedicated to the "monumental history of the Targaryen while they reigned over Westeros".

The book will be titled Fire & Blood and, as Bantam distributor explained to USA Today:

"It is the chronicle, set 300 years before GoT events, of the Targaryen's conquest of the seven kingdoms, until the civil war that almost destroyed the dynasty".

This was revealed by his blog George RR Martin author of the saga A Song of Ice and Fire, which was taken by GoT, emphasizing

“So: not a novel. Everyone clear on that? Though there are enough stories here for twenty novels. Battles, bloodshed, betrayals, love, lust, horror, religious wars, politics, incest, historical revisionism, all the fun stuff … Oh, and there are dragons too. Lots of dragons.”

Fire & Blood will be enriched by 75 illustrations by Doug Wheatley.
