The Virgin Suicides turns 15
Warner celebrates with a Deluxe Edition of the iconic soundtrack
June 22nd, 2015
The Virgin Suicides turns 15.
The movie, based on the 1993 novel by Jeffrey Eugenides, ratified Sofia Coppola’s debut and gained international success. It received a lot of nominations (best direction, best casting, best adaptation, best photography, best screenplay, best female protagonist…) and made Kirsten Dunst an icon of the new Hollywood.
The atmospheres of the movie were destined to remain in the collective imagination forever: the film established Coppola’s aesthetic standards made out of melancholy tones and pastel colours and the story of the Lisbon sisters unsettled even the most temerary souls.
The soundtrack by French duo AIR contributed to the narrative efficacy of the work. To celebrate this 15th anniversary, music label Rhino released a vinyl which contains all the 13 tracks of the movie:
1. Playground Love
2. Clouds Up
3. Bathroom Girl
4. Cemetary Party
5. Dark Messages
6. The Word Hurricane
7. Dirty Trip
8. Highschool Lover
9. Afternoon Sister
10. Ghost Song
11. Empty House
12. Dead Bodies
13. Suicide Underground
A piece for collectors.
