A mix of new releases and returns: from the third film by Gabriele Mainetti to the unexpected role of Maccio Capatonda, and even the unlikely duo of Nicole Kidman alongside Gael García Bernal. Snow White - In theaters from March 20

Since we mentioned it, let’s start with this one. One of the quintessential princesses, in this case, hated even before hitting theaters. The reason? The lead actress in the live-action Snow White, Rachel Zegler, known from West Side Story, doesn’t exactly match the description of the young girl from the classic fairy tale. Being American of Colombian descent, the U.S. audience argues that she doesn’t have the "skin as white as snow" that defines the character – but we don’t care. Will she pull it off, or will this be just another questionable Disney live-action, regardless of the controversies, whether relevant or not? To find out, head to the theaters from March 20.

The Electric State - On Netflix from March 14

While we still have to wait to see Millie Bobby Brown as Eleven in the fifth and final season of Stranger Things coming out this year, starting March 14, we can watch her in another Netflix production, directed by none other than the Russo brothers, Joe and Anthony Russo. The movie bringing Brown together with Chris Pratt is The Electric State, based on the novel by Simon Stålenhag. It follows the story of a young girl on a journey to find her missing brother, accompanied by a mysterious robot, a smuggler, and his assistant.

The Forbidden City - In theaters from March 13

This marks the return of Gabriele Mainetti to the big screen after Freaks Out. With his third film, the director, who first gained recognition with They Call Me Jeeg, blends romance, mafia, kung-fu, and Rome’s criminal underworld into one cinematic experience, once again intertwining everyday life with genre storytelling. This time, the protagonists are two young people from different backgrounds, both searching for someone who has mysteriously disappeared from their lives. Their quest will lead them into the most dangerous parts of the capital.

Il Gattopardo - Netflix

It has been called "our most ambitious challenge." That’s how Netflix Italy’s VP of content, Tinny Andreatta, described The Leopard. The adaptation of Giuseppe Tomasi di Lampedusa’s novel required a collaborative effort between artistic and technical teams with an international touch. At the heart of the story is a cast featuring Kim Rossi Stuart, Benedetta Porcaroli, Saul Nanni, and Deva Cassel. Aware of the legacy left by Luchino Visconti’s cinematic version, the cast embraced a story that promises to be a love letter to Sicily. It remains faithful to the book while also offering a fresh perspective.

Daredevil: Born Again - Disney+

Fans of Daredevil are surely experiencing a mix of anxiety and excitement. The devil of Hell's Kitchen returns ten years after his first Netflix appearance, once again played by Charlie Cox. However, this time, he is welcomed into a new home after the MCU acquired the character’s rights. So, after three seasons on Netflix and a dark, violent narrative that gained a solid fanbase, the character, originally created by Stan Lee and Bill Everett, moves to Disney+ with Daredevil: Born Again. In this series, lawyer Matt Murdock and villain Wilson Fisk will once again be forced to confront their identities. The show is directly connected to the Netflix storyline and promises to maintain the same level of grit and darkness.

The Studio - from March 26 on Apple TV+

It looks like Apple TV+ is ready to release a new series that could turn into a hit. The Studio is created by Seth Rogen along with a rich lineup of collaborators: Evan Goldberg, Peter Huyck, Alex Gregory, and Frida Perez. Rogen also stars in the show, playing Matt Remick, the new head of Continental Studios, whose challenge is to balance the creative ambitions of stars with corporate demands while striving to produce works of real value.

As we eagerly follow the press tour featuring the fun-loving director Bong Joon-ho and his lead actor Robert Pattinson, their film Mickey 17 hits theaters on March 6. The movie is based on the novel Mickey7, written by Edward Ashton and published in 2022. The story revolves around Mickey Barnes, who is forced to die repeatedly to carry out exploration missions before colonizing a new planet. Every time something goes wrong, a 3D printer is ready to generate a new clone. The process seems flawless until something disrupts the system.

Sconfort Zone - Prime Video

Sconfort Zone is a serious series—or so it’s described in the trailer promoting its release on Prime Video on March 20. This is the new project from comedian Maccio Capatonda, who has decided to (metaphorically) kill off his most famous characters, from Padre Maronno to Mariottide, as he opens a new chapter in his career. The title reflects the protagonist Maccio’s journey throughout the episodes—a form of shock therapy that forces him out of his comfort zone and compels him to face some of his greatest fears. The cast of Sconfort Zone includes Francesca Inaudi, Giorgio Montanini, Valerio Desirò, Camilla Filippi, Luca Confortini, Edoardo Ferrario, Gianluca Fru, and Valerio Lundini.

When Shonda Rhimes is involved, you can always expect mysteries. This time, it's The Residence, an eight-episode miniseries inspired by Kate Andersen Brower’s book, arriving on Netflix on March 20. The show follows a detective with remarkable intuition as she investigates a murder that took place in none other than the White House. Everyone is a suspect—from the staff to the guests—totaling 157 people under scrutiny. The Residence promises to be an unexpected and gripping whodunit, keeping viewers on the edge of their seats until the very end.

In the story, young Pia receives a prophecy from a guru revealing that she is about to meet the love of her life—within her next five dates. Her family eagerly starts setting up a series of bizarre outings, but a figure from her past seems determined to return and shake things up.

The Monkey - from March 20 in theaters

It's the horror movie of the month. The Monkey marks the return of Oz Perkins to screenwriting and directing less than a year after the success of his film Longlegs starring Nicolas Cage. For The Monkey, the filmmaker takes on none other than the novel by Stephen King, with Theo James in the leading role. The story brought to the screen is eerie and terrifying: two twins decide to get rid of a toy monkey that belonged to their father and has been linked to a series of unfortunate events over the years. The brothers then go their separate ways, but when unexplained deaths start occurring, they immediately recognize the powers of the paranormal toy.

Classic films returning to theaters are always a must-watch on the big screen. This month, it's the turn of Taxi Driver, a cornerstone of Martin Scorsese's career and the work of his screenwriter Paul Schrader. There's something for everyone, spanning genres and cinematic history, from The Blue Angel by Josef von Sternberg (1930) to Peeping Tom by Michael Powell (1960), and Amadeus by Miloš Forman (1984).
