The Silencio all the way to Tokyo

The Silencio all the way to Tokyo Arnaud Frisch, the art of reinventing nightlife around the world

Arnaud Frisch: if this name doesn't ring a bell, that of Silencio might. One of the pioneers of Parisian nightlife, he has transformed the nocturnal landscape of the City of Light by creating hybrid and avant-garde spaces where music, contemporary art, and gastronomy blend. The story of Silencio begins in 2011, when Frisch, in collaboration with director David Lynch, imagined a unique venue in the basements of rue Montmartre in Paris. Inspired by the fictional club from the film Mulholland Drive, Silencio is not just a nightclub, but a hybrid space where different cultural protagonists, from cuisine to artistic creations, come together. A project that marked a break with traditional concepts of Parisian nightlife by integrating diverse cultural elements, allowing its followers to participate in exclusive events such as concerts, exhibitions by renowned artists like Juergen Teller and Martin Parr, or themed dinners. Frisch had already understood that the future of clubs lay in their ability to offer a complete experience, combining entertainment and culture, far from the simple festive space. This vision was supported by a subtle marketing approach: member-only access during the first part of the evening reinforced the idea of exclusivity, while allowing a broader audience to enter after midnight, increasing the venue's appeal while cultivating a certain mystery.

From the first evenings, personalities such as Lana Del Rey, Kendrick Lamar, Pharrell Williams, and Virgil Abloh for his first DJ set, rushed to perform there, cementing Silencio's reputation as an essential hub of contemporary culture. Driven by this success, Frisch began to expand his concept internationally, with a first incursion in Ibiza. In 2020, he opened El Silencio, a seaside version of his Parisian club, which perfectly embodies the hedonistic spirit of the island while integrating the artistic and cultural elements that make the original venue unique. El Silencio is not just a party venue; it’s a true meeting place for creators and art lovers, where one can enjoy refined gastronomy, notably with the arrival of the Japanese restaurant Urusai on February 15, 2024. With its innovative menu, inspired by Tokyo street food and crafted by Olivier Leone and Arthur Cohen, two rising stars of Parisian cuisine, this opening allowed the institution to establish itself in new markets by leveraging local trends while capitalizing on its already solidly established brand image.

The future of Silencio looks even more promising with expansion into other international metropolises. New York welcomed the latest Silencio in February 2024, located in the iconic Hell's Kitchen neighborhood and designed by Russian designer Harry Nuriev, who successfully adapted the space to the city's atmosphere while maintaining continuity with the parent brand. A fourth club that stands as a true platform for artists, with programming blending cinema, fashion, music, and contemporary art, further solidifying the Silencio brand as a central player on the global cultural scene. But Arnaud Frisch's most ambitious project is the opening of a Silencio in Tokyo, also planned for 2024. A city representing a new frontier, an opportunity to merge Western and Eastern influences within a creative space where musicians, star chefs, and international artists converge. In parallel, Frisch even plans to integrate a hotel offering into his future clubs, transforming Silencio into a true ecosystem where art, partying, and well-being coexist harmoniously.
