The most unexpected luxury partnership of the year

On the occasion of the opening ceremony of the Paris Olympic Games, CNBC, an American media outlet, interviewed Bernard Arnault, CEO of LVMH, a key partner of the Games this year. The conglomerate's president discussed various topics, including the company's history, the origin of the premium sponsorship with the Olympics, and succession plans. But the part that caught the internet's attention was when he mentioned a potential collaboration with SpaceX, Elon Musk's aerospace company. During the interview, Bernard Arnault praised his billionaire friend, stating: "I greatly admire what he's doing because I think he's a genius." He also commented on the successes of Tesla and SpaceX and went on to reveal that he would be open to a possible partnership between the two companies. "Maybe we'll see a Louis Vuitton rocket, a SpaceX and Louis Vuitton collaboration. It's something to think about." said the French businessman.
He also stated that Musk was not entirely opposed to the idea: "He didn't say no" he reportedly said. Arnault then humorously expressed his apprehension: "I'm afraid he'll ask me to join him on the rocket." When the journalist asked if he would go on the rocket, he replied: "I'm not sure." Just last year, in June, it was reported that Musk and Arnault had lunch together in Paris. They are said to have met at one of the most luxurious hotels in Europe, the Cheval Blanc, whose opulent rooms offer breathtaking views of the Eiffel Tower. The Tesla CEO is currently the richest person in the world, with a fortune of $243 billion. As for Bernard Arnault, his fortune amounts to $188 billion, making him the third richest person on Bloomberg's billionaire index. If this collaboration comes to fruition, it would mark a turning point in the history of cross-industry partnerships. The speech of the French luxury magnate reflects LVMH's continued expansion and exploration of new frontiers under his strategic leadership.
