5 things to do in Paris this weekend
This weekend from January 19th to 21st
January 19th, 2024
Even if this week felt endless to you, rejoice because the weekend is here, and it promises to be filled with unique experiences. From a stop at Mehmet's to the opening of La Communale, and a cultural break at a temporary exhibition, discover what the city has to offer this weekend.
Where to Eat - Grab a quick bite or dine for hours at Mehmet
You've probably heard of Mehmet in passing or maybe let your taste buds get excited during its appearance in "Fuck that’s Delicious." Either way, Mehmet is a must-visit on your list, a culinary experience not to be missed. Created by Julien Catelain and Matthieu Haddak after a trip to Turkey, Mehmet goes beyond the traditional kebab by offering an authentic experience. From the beginning, the restaurant was conceived as a lokanta, a traditional Turkish neighborhood canteen offering a variety of mezzes and typical Turkish dishes. The menu highlights a kebab prepared according to the rules of the art, combining free-range chicken marinated with aromatic herbs and lemon juice, accompanied by chicken juice from the carcasses, labneh, and optionally spiced with a hint of chili. Their selection of mezzes is diverse, ranging from cevizli biber to crispy labneh, mucver, Turkish sardines, and the essential ali nazik. We recommend finishing your experience on a sweet note with exceptional baklava provided by Maison Murat.

Where to Have Fun - Get lost in the gourmet hall of Saint Ouen
Initially planned for 2022 but postponed due to the health crisis, La Communale, the largest food court in Europe, finally opens its doors this weekend. Nestled in the dynamic new eco-district of Grand Paris, this 7500-square-meter gem presents itself as an extraordinary third place. Explore the delights of bistronomy, stroll among thirty street food stalls, taste dishes from independent producers, and much more. Open 7 days a week, from 8 am to midnight, La Communale is not limited to being just a dining place. In the future, the space aims to host various installations, including an "iconic" bar, a performance hall, a conference center, a gastronomic laboratory with a cooking school, and 3000 square meters of coworking spaces dedicated to food industry professionals.
