Bentley and Forestalgia create a driving glove
A collector's item for Bentley customers
October 30th, 2023
In celebration of the 20th anniversary of the Continental GT, Bentley Motors has partnered with the London-based design studio Forestalgia to create an extremely limited edition driving glove, drawing inspiration from the craftsmanship and design of the ultimate grand touring car, using surplus leathers from the car's production. Designed by Emmanuel Lawal, a renowned global creative and the founder of Forestalgia studio, these gloves seamlessly blend classic design elements with contemporary fashion. Lawal collaborated with the product engineering studio Areté to capture the rich history of the GT. Forestalgia's glove design exemplifies the essence of the Bentley GT, featuring a two-color palette of Black Crystal and Racing Green, a nod to the optional interior colors of the Bentley GT.
Each glove proudly showcases the Bentley and Forestalgia logos, double-stitched reinforced protective panels, hand-rolled leather edges, and various ergonomic perforations. All of these details are executed with exceptional craftsmanship, a quality that has always been synonymous with the Bentley Continental GT. The leather used for the Bentley GT's steering wheel cannot be effectively stitched by a machine. Bentley's skilled artisans in Crewe mark the leather using a common kitchen fork before meticulously hand-stitching it, resulting in perfectly placed markers. This time-honored technique was also employed for crafting each Forestalgia driving glove, a process that required over four weeks of handiwork. These gloves are now on display at the Bentley Motors headquarters and will be presented as collector's items to Bentley customers.
