5 things in Milan this weekend
From 7 to 9 October
October 7th, 2022
What could be better to combat the October blues than to indulge in a weekend of urban exploration? With temperatures dropping and autumn in full swing, the weather is perfect for visiting museums, trying out new bistros, getting ready for the spooky season. Here's a list of places and events to discover this weekend.
To Eat - Osteria del Treno
Modern and lightened Milanese and Lombard cuisine, attentive to well-known and lesser-known traditional recipes, through the scrupulous choice of raw materials, quality of ingredients, provenance, freshness and seasonality: this has been the philosophy of the Osteria del Treno for more than 30 years. A place, run by the Bissolotti family, where one inevitably breathes the air of times gone by. Among the promoters of the Alliance of Chefs are farmers, breeders, small artisans, linked to and respectful of the territory, well represented by the Earth Market and Slow Food Presidia. In the Liberty Hall you can find traditional Lombardy dishes such as casoeûla and buseca and an excellent selection of cheeses. Not forgetting the beef from the Granda, cold cuts and a wide selection of wines to be enjoyed during the evenings with music, dancing and cabaret, in an atmosphere that is a little bit dance hall, a little bit Italy in the 80s, but certainly different from the usual.
Via S. Gregorio, 46
To chill - Farout Live Art Festival
From 1 to 9 October, BASE presents the second edition of the festival dedicated to contemporary creation, with a rich program of concerts, performances, installations, public art interventions and parties. Focusing on the theme of time, the festival investigates the subject as a political category that determines the ways in which we live, work and produce. The idea of the "end of time", in its philosophical and historical dimensions, together with its current political, social, ecological and economic ramifications, forms the backdrop for the FAROUT 2022 program, which this year becomes "time-specific", opening up to the search for a dimension that rediscovers "the art of lingering over things", stopping the eternal movement and lazing about.
Via Bergognone, 34
To Discover - Luigi Rovati Foundation
Inaugurated at the beginning of September, the Fondazione Luigi Rovati art museum is housed in a historic palace built in 1871 on Via Palestro, where the MCA studio led by architect Mario Cucinella has masterfully intervened with a redevelopment project that respects the original building and its new museum function. From the Cerveteri tombs, a rare example of Etruscan architecture, to the Simeti Gallery, the Spazio Bianco and the Azzurra, Paolini, Ontani and Armi rooms, in which Etruscan finds are flanked by contemporary works (including Luigi Ontani, Giulio Paolini, Andy Wharol, Francesco Simeti and Marianna Kennedy), the building is an absolute novelty on the Milanese scene.
