According to Kanye West adidas sold fake Yeezys
Ye lashed out directly at the CEO of the German brand
June 14th, 2022
After a long period of social silence, Kanye West has returned to post on his Instagram profile accusing adidas of plagiarism. In the now-deleted post, Ye pointed the finger directly at the German brand's CEO, Kasper Rorsted, for deliberately repurposing the design of his Yeezy Slides for the new Adilette 22. «This is a fake Yeezy made by adidas,» West wrote, virtually opening the door to his break with the brand, whose habit in "repurposing" some of the Yeezy sneaker designs for other silhouettes is now well established. Just a few weeks ago, the first photos of an adidas sneaker that was far too similar to Foam Runners arrived online, while in the past the Streetball 2.0 had also been accused of looking too much like the Yeezy Quantum.
As mentioned, the news could be the beginning of the end of West's relationship with adidas, whose 10-year contract will expire in 2026 but from which the rapper could be released early. It is no secret that Ye has lost interest in the partnership with adidas, focusing his forces on the new working synergy created first with GAP and then with Balenciaga. As the hype culture that had helped decree the success of the Yeezys fades away, it would be no surprise if West decides to permanently end his relationship with the German brand to focus on something else.
