The new slide sneakers from adidas look familiar
a futuristic design reminiscent of the Mutant ZX prototype by Ral7000 studio
February 21st, 2022
Slide and mules seemed to be a passing trend when they invaded boutiques and e-shops last year under the influence of a new kind of post-pandemic loungewear, but now that Birkenstocks have become a genderless must-have that knows no seasons, brands are exploring the potential and comfort of flip-flops in all their declinations. adidas in particular has continued to ride the trend with new model of slide sneaker with a futuristic look.
Scheduled for release in 2023, the shoe features a contemporary construction that mixes TPU and shiny black neoprene, as well as a slip-on design that makes them wearable even as mules. A model that is particularly reminiscent of the MUTANT ZX prototype created by the @ral7000studio design collective, inspired by another release of the three stripes brand, the ZX 710 released in 1987, exclusively for Blanco, who wore them in the Brividi video clip making them instantly famous.
Given the popularity of the video and the recent victory of the duo Mahmood-Blanco at the Sanremo festival, in addition to the success of the song in the global charts, the new launch of adidas could seem an attempt to launch on a large scale a 'democratic' alternative, both in design and price, of the prototype MUTANT ZX. All we have to do is wait for the release to see them up close.
