COMME des GARÇONS Archive Exhibition
@ Riviera, Milano
March 14th, 2016
TAM: The Private Collections – COMME des GARÇONS Archive opens tonight at RIVIERA in Milan. The exhibition is dedicated to the innovative vision of the brand founded in 1969 by Rei Kawakubo, expressed here through a collection of magazines, catalogs, posters, postcards and invitations gathered by private collectors between 1980 and 2000.
The show was born as a result of curator Ingrid Melano’s research of art books. Besides being the founder and president of the nonprofit organization The Art Markets, Ingrid also gave birth to a project which aims to support independent publishing: TAM Books.
Inside the space you’ll find all the conceptual avant-garde that has always characterized Kawakubo’s work, also thanks to the contribution of artists such as Bruce Weber, Peter Lindbergh and Cindy Sherman.
A unique opportunity to lose yourself in the archives of a house as iconic as revolutionary, that redefined the aesthetic imagination of a whole generation and has been able to impose the features of Japanese style in Europe.
TAM: The Private Collections - Comme des Garçons Archives – From March 15 to 19, open from 2 to 6 pm at RIVIERA, Via del Vecchio Politecnico 3, Milan.
Opening tonight at 6.30 pm.
