adidas Design Academy
For future sportswear designers
March 1st, 2016
adidas has always showed its desire to work with young talents. Designers often tend to imitate the creations of others and the goal of the German brand is now to enhance the creative culture, driving the aesthetic of the products to innovation. We can see the future ambitions of adidas through its continuous collaborations with young talents such as Rita Ora, Nigo, Mary Katrantzou, Kanye West and many others, who point out that adidas is an open-source company that is constantly evolving.
The latest video commercial of the brand - Your future is not mine - deals with this, too: the need to look to the future, trying to expand the space dedicated to young creators.
These are not just words: adidas wants to give young designers the opportunity to join the new adidas Design Academy, a 24-month program which focuses on apparel, footwear and graphic design, next to adidas design team. This program is offered in multiple locations, including Herzogenaurach in Germany, Canton and Portland in the US, Shanghai and Tokyo.
Whether it is the apparel or the footwear line, it is clear that through this academy adidas aims to seek true artists who want to contribute to the sportswear industry's future. Participants will then have the opportunity to deepen their practical knowledge for a period of 4 weeks within the following teams: Brand Design, Product Marketing, Product Development or Innovation.
Last but not least, we remind you that the deadline for applications is March 6, 2016, while the program will officially start on June 1st, 2016.
