SEED, Miu Miu Women’s Tales’ new short film
By Naomi Kawase
February 16th, 2016
A story on the road, the one of a girl who travels from the serene nature of Nara – a city next to Kyoto where the beauty of Japanese culture still flourishes – to the sparkling chaos of Tokyo. On her way she meets a guy who gives her an apple. Then she gives it to a homeless, who thanks her with a charming chiffon scarf. From that moment she feels light and free, like a spirit in the wind.
SEED is the name of the 11th film of Miu Miu Women’s Tales, a series of short movies that showcases the work of new female directors who critically celebrate and investigate contemporary femininity.
The movie is directed by Japanese filmmaker and Cannes Festival winner Naomi Kawase, an artist who mixes nature and tradition in her works, with a personal and poetical vision of the world.
SEED will be premiered tonight in New York. You can watch the entire Women’s Tales archive on Miu Miu’s website, as well as behind the scenes footage and exclusive interviews to the directors.
