7 things we loved at Copenhagen Fashion Week
From Feb. 3 to 5, 2016
February 5th, 2016
After Paris, London and Milan, it's time for Copenhagen's runways. From February 3 to 5, 2016 the northern city known for its cool and minimalist style hosted its own fashion week, which takes place twice a year. The inhabitants of the Danish city showed once again their affinity with fashion, through fashion shows, VIP events, free events and Fashion TV on big screens to watch the talent of Scandinavian designers live.
Here's the 7 highlights of this edition:
#1 Brunch with Tommy Hilfiger - Wednesday February 3 @ Tommy Hilfiger Showroom, Trangransvej 2. Fashion week began with the traditional Brunch at Tommy Hilfiger Showroom, which took place between 9 and 10 am with the introduction of the new digital area and the preview of the FW16 collection of the brand.
#2 Han Kjobenhavn Fashion Show - Wednesday February 3 @ Den Grå Hul, Maelkevejen 63. The Danish brand presented another fantastic show, where a group of models wore menacing masks walking on a dusty runway with a soundtrack created by pounding drums. The models were then lined up in front of a huge plush bear.
#3 Barbara I Gongini Fashion Show - Wednesday February 3City Hall, City Hall Square 1. Barbara I Gongini's show is always a must, and her ability to use minimal colours like black, gray and white allows us to pay attention to the details. The women's collection was Gothic and elegant at the same time, with draped dresses with asymmetrical cuts; while the men's collection includes Racer jackets, leather pants and hats.
#4 Henrik Vibskov Fashion Show - Wednesday February 3 @ City Hall, City Hall Square 1. Vibskov's new collection is based on the idea that the brain looks like a walnut, from here the choice to put masked musicians on the runway. The collection presents unisex items with geometric, square coats and cropped trousers.
#5 Revolver hosted by PPP Sound System Pigalle Party - Wednesday February 3 @ Sunday Club, Lille Kongensgade 16. The first day of fashion week ends with this Hip-Hop party at the fancy and underground Sunday Club which hosts for the occasion PPP Sound System Pigalle.
#6 Wood Wood SS16 + All Gone Book Signing - Thursday February 4 @ Wood Wood Store, Grønnegade 1. Beers to celebrate the new Wood Wood SS16 collection and the official launch of the book All Gone - the so-called Bible of streetwear, with the presence of author Michael Dupouy to sign copies.
#7 Asger Juel Larsen Fashion Show - Thursday February 4 @ Hotel D'Angleterre, Kongens Nytorv 34. Larsen is a designer who's changing the rules of modern menswear. For this occasion the "Born Worn" show took place in an incredible luxury location, the Hotel D'Angleterre, where models walked in western-gothic style and safari-streetwear; in the middle a duo formed by drums and keyboard created an infernal soundtrack perfectly in contrast with the location.
