Two Saint Laurent's museums coming in 2017
In Paris and Marrakech
January 28th, 2016
In a historic moment where the future of the house couldn’t seem more uncertain – see the rumours which suggest Hedi Slimane’s depature in favour of Anthony Vaccarello – Saint Laurent has announced today the opening of two museums dedicated to its founder, whose inauguration is expected for fall 2017.
The locations chosen for the sites are emblematic: Paris, the city which saw the career of the designer start (and end), and Marrakech, where Saint Laurent and Pierre Bergé loved to go to on holiday and where in 1980 they bought the suggestive Jardin Majorelle.
In Paris the Fondation Pierre Bergé-Yves Saint Laurent will be turned into a permanent museum, in which visitors will be able to access the original studio of the couturier as long as the rooms of his first shows. In Marrakech instead, we'll assist to the opening of a 4000 square meters space that will host, besides the exhibition space, an auditorium, a library, a coffee and a restaurant.
