5 things to do in Milan during MFW
From February 24 to 29, 2016
February 24th, 2016
Women’s fashion week lands in Milan today, where the fashion crowd will stay until Monday, when the lights will turn out as usual after Giorgio Armani’s morning show. Even if the calendar is rich of events and presentations, those who find themselves in Milan always express the desire to plunge in the most authentic lifestyle of the city.
Between a traditional pizza with friends and a visit to the most fashionable museum in town, here are the 5 Milanese hot spots not to miss this week:
#1 Marchesi. It has just (re)opened but it’s already an institution. The historic Marchesi patisserie, founded in 1824, has been bought by the Prada Group and turned into a design jewel made of pastel colours and an aristocratic aesthetic. Perfect for a morning coffee – freshly grounded – or to indulge in a sweet treat among the little creations baked in store every day. Via Montenapoleone, 9.
#2 Fondazione Prada. Another present the Prada Group recently offered to the Italian city. Opened last May, 2015, this exhibition centre gathers a permanent collection as well as Recto Verso, until February 16, 2016. The structure also counts on the presence of a cinema – free, upon reservation – and a bar, designer by Texas director Wes Anderson. Largo Isarco, 2.
#3 Slam Jam. If you have the time for a shopping break, in the Navigli district there’s a destination not to miss. Slam Jam is a store which sells brands such as adidas Originals, Cottweiler, Carhartt Wip, Gosha Rubchinskiy, Hood By Air, Junya Watanabe, Levi’s, Nasir Mazhar, Off-White, Nike, New Balance, Palace Skateboards, Sacai and many more. Now also subjects to winter sales. Via Pasquale Paoli, 3.
#4 The Yard. If you want to relax in front of a drink after a stressful day around the city, this magic place hidden from the crowd is what you’re looking for. There, you’ll find delicious drinks to sip comfortably seated on vintage leather sofas, surrounded by collectible volumes about fashion and design. Piazza XXIV Maggio, 8.
#5 Gino Sorbillo Lievito Madre. What’s better than a pizza to celebrate the Italian spirit of the city? This pizzeria, located just behind the Duomo, proposes the original Neapolitan recipe. The mozzarella di bufala is also remarkable. Largo Corsia dei Servi, 11.
